Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about starting therapy, confidentiality and practice in the UAE.

Starting Therapy

You might need therapy if life feels heavier than usual, you’re stuck in patterns you can’t shift, or you feel you’d benefit from a safe space to talk and understand yourself better.

In the first session, you talk about what brought you in, a few gentle questions will be asked and together we will start to map out what you would like to focus on. There‘s no pressure – It’s mainly about getting comfortable and understanding your needs and making sure you feel heard.

You can book an appointment by contacting directly by phone, WhatsApp, or Email. Available slots will be shared to help you choose a time that suits you best.

Confidentiality & Sessions

Everything you share in therapy stays private as therapy sessions are governed by professional ethical standards. As required by UAE law and international clinical guidelines, confidentiality has limited exceptions, such as a serious risk of harm, a legal requirement to disclose or a situation involving abuse or safety. Outside of those limits, your information is protected and not shared with anyone without your consent.

There’s no fixed number of sessions that fits everyone. It really depends on what you want to work on and how deep you want to go. Here’s the simplest way to think about it:

  • Short‑term goals (stress, a specific problem, a decision) → often 4–8 sessions
  • Ongoing patterns or deeper work (anxiety, relationships, self‑understanding) → often 8–20 sessions
  • Long‑term personal growth or complex histories → can be open‑ended, at your pace

Yes, online sessions are available and conducted through a secure, confidential video platform. For clients who prefer the convenience of connecting from home, online therapy is available and is just as effective as in-person sessions for most concerns. These sessions are routed through the clinics.

Approaches & Specializations

A psychologist works through therapy and assessments – helping you understand your thoughts, patterns, emotions and behaviour. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication and focuses on the medical side of mental health. The two can work alongside each other. A psychologist can collaborate with, or refer to a psychiatrist where appropriate

Fees & Policies

Fees are competitive with UAE private practice rates. A free initial consultation is available so you can experience the approach before committing.
Payment for sessions is handled directly through the clinics and is processed through the clinic at the time of your sessions. Both clinics accept a variety of payment methods, including major credit/debit cards, bank transfers and sometimes cash. Please check with the specific clinic at the time of booking for their current payment options.

Consistency is key to therapeutic progress. Follow-up sessions are typically scheduled at the end of each session by mutual agreement. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide as much notice as possible. Specific cancellation timeframes and any associated fees are governed by the clinic’s policy, which will be shared with you during your initial booking.

Yes, insurance is accepted. Many major insurance providers cover psychological services, though coverage depends on your specific plan. The clinics can assist in verifying your coverage or providing the necessary documentation (such as invoices and medical reports) for you to claim reimbursement from your insurance provider.
