Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

What I can help you with?

People come to see a psychologist when they encounter life problems that they are unable to solve on their own – or when the ways they have tried to solve life problems no longer work. Common problems are:

Relationship difficulties
Sleep problems
Self-esteem difficulties
Traumatic life experiences

You may also seek therapy when you do not have any major on-going problems but when you want to increase your self-awareness and re-define life goals. You may feel, for example, that you are stuck in your career, need to reassess values and goals, lack meaning in life or would like to live a fuller, healthier life.

You may seek help for relatively recent issues, or want to work on experiences that took place long ago.

Individual therapy for adults and adolescents

I have a special interest in depression, stress and anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-esteem problems and sleep difficulties, as well as existential questions such as the meaning in life and ageing. If you are not sure whether or not I can help you, please fill out the contact form and I will get back to you to discuss your situation.

During the first sessions my aim is to get a good understanding of your life circumstances and the difficulties you are facing. Together we will then make a plan on how to work towards reducing symptoms and increasing self-awareness, personal growth and well-being. With each client I aim to find a way of working that suits them best.

My work is predominantly based on existential-phenomenological and cognitive-behavioural approaches. These terms refer to my theoretical background and will become clearer during our work together.

How does therapy help?

Therapy can help you increase your awareness of yourself, your relationships and behavioural patterns and help you implement desired changes in your life. It can also help you overcome difficult experiences and gain a new perspective on your past, present and future. The aim of therapy is to help you find solutions to the problems you are facing or the questions you are asking. As a therapist my role is to facilitate this process and offer support. Therapy also helps you overcome the obstacles that prevent you from achieving your goals and enjoying life.

Successful therapy is based on a good relationship between the client and the therapist. You will be able to work with a therapist who promotes an atmosphere of acceptance, confidentiality and respect. You will be an an active participant in therapy and will, together with your therapist, set the goals for your therapy and find a way to work towards them in a way that suits you best.
